What we collect, and what we don't

This site runs no advertising, no third-party analytics and no tracking pixels. It sets no cookies at all unless you sign in to the team's admin area, which only team members can do. The only personal information we hold is what you type into the contact or newsletter form yourself.

Contact form. Your name, email address, an optional subject, your message, and the page you submitted from. We use this to reply to you and nothing else.

Newsletter signup. Your email address and the page you signed up from, so we can send occasional team updates.

Nothing passive. We do not build a profile of you, track you across sites, or collect your location. Our web host keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and reliability, as essentially every web host does.

We set no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you don't see a cookie banner here. Two small pieces of data are stored in your own browser purely so the site behaves sensibly: whether you dismissed the announcement bar, and the contents of your merch cart. Both stay on your device, are never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Team members who sign in to the admin area receive a session cookie. That is strictly necessary for signing in and is not used for anything else.

We keep the list of processors as short as we can. Submissions are stored in our database (Supabase) and the site is served by our host (Render). New submissions may be announced to the team's private Slack channel or emailed to the team address so we notice them promptly. If you buy merch, the order and payment are handled by our print and payment providers under their own privacy policies; we never see or store your card details.

We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or pass it to anyone outside the team for any purpose other than those above.

Contact messages are kept while they are useful for following up, and are cleared out periodically. Newsletter addresses are kept until you ask to be removed.

Email us at vtdiggeridoos@gmail.com and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. There is no form to fill in and no account to close. If you want off the newsletter, say so and you're off.

This site is aimed at prospective and current Virginia Tech students, sponsors and supporters. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will remove it.

If we start collecting something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We are a student team, so the honest commitment is this: we collect the minimum we need to talk to you, and nothing more.
