Take a look at "Marv", our latest and greatest iteration of our tunnel boring machine (TBM). Marv dug 7 ft 2" horizontally, and just under 12 ft diagonally! Marv was challenged to bore a 100 ft long tunnel with a cross section area of at least 24 inches. Although the odds (money & time) were against us, our talented roster proved to be up to the test: completing the longest dig in team history

Marv uses a custom built cutterface integrated with scrapers to tear apart soil. It is then steered by a Stewart platform giving it two degrees-of-freedom as it is propelled by four hydraulic pistons on the surface capable of 300,000 lbs of force! To put this into perspective, a Boeing 737 engine can only produce 14,500 pounds of force in comparison. Focusing on economic sensibility, The Diggeridoos took on the challenge of creating innovative and  low-cost transportation head on, budgeting under $100,000 to the machine, a fraction of average production costs for TBMs.
